I am kind of bummed to discover that I am with you. I can’t sit all the way through most of these. I don’t know that it’s always the art so much as the pacing. People were not in as much of a rush for stuff to happen in those days I guess. Still, I’m glad I got to watch bits of all of them.

FYI, the actual song is “Mura Matsuri,” if you ever wanted to find it somewhere. It’s a pretty famous song, apparently.

I can’t tell you how happy this article makes me. I saw “Mura Matsuri” on a dvd collection of old Japanese films, and really wanted to see more, but I didn’t know where to find it! Thank you!

I love the “Don don kyara ra” song in Mura Matsuri! The paper cut out animation is so cute. I can only imagine how amazing that would have looked like in color!

I can appreciate these on a evolutionary level. But I don’t like them personally. Some with Steamboat Willy. We just are spoiled for choice on beautifully animated modern stuff, these old flipbook animations don’t cut it.
