I have further confirmation that Edison-bashing will show up even where it is only tangentially related to the discussion or article. It's especially infuriating to me because Tesla fans will often make stuff up to paint Edison as more of a jerk than he was in real life (as if he needed the help).

Tesla was mostly a lone inventor, designing and building things with minimal help. He developed many improvements to AC power early in his career, as well as countless electrical devices that are used to this day. Unfortunately, later in life he seemed more keen to tinker with wild fantasies and impractical solutions to problems, rather than anything practical to use in real life.

I sometimes compare Edison to Walt Disney. He invented plenty of things on his own - though the true number will never be known - but his biggest asset was gathering many people under him in Menlo Park. He was also an asshole, yet people were willing to work for him.

He's definitely most similar to Nikola Tesla, I suppose. Maybe comparing people to others is wrong, I don't know.

"It took more than three years for him to finish the assembly." You make it sound like a lot, but i've made a clock from wood myself, and considering the complexity i would say that he put up a pretty good time. "Only 3 years" would have been more appropriate. xD
