Besides its the best way to hold your bokken, sword, jo etc. in front of you aiming at your opponent when you are moving without tilt from side to side. You do it automatically but when i put my weapon away i walk “normal” because you normally don´t think about it and nobody told me :P
I will definately practise namba aruki without weapons and i think it will be beneficial for all techniques we do in training because your hip stays focussed towards your partner.
In aikido it is really important to use your hips and always turn your whole body in the direction in which you want to go.
