Sorry to reply so long after the OP- If you’re interested in a similar theme for hostess clubs, check out Bar Flower by Lea Jacobson, about a woman who immigrated to Tokyo from the US for a few years doing just that. I found it randomly a while back, and it’s an awesome book.
