Well, it’s *not* only in Japan. but also in Korea, and even America, etc.
My opinion? try to look at the much Bigger-picture : this is what you get when you let Capitalism “rules” the music “industry” (yeah…I’ve said again: music “INDUSTRY”!).

Everything nowadays in the modern “pop-music” world is simply just a mass-produced (like in factory), ‘commercial’ PRODUCTS, and nothing more.

REAL Music?…never heard of it for already a long time on “mainstream” TV/radio/media.
so again, this is what you get when you put Money above everything else!
no big surprise here…sad but true.

Japan doesn’t seem to care for actual music so much as the idols. No wonder so many listen to western music.

Just like any business, you “sign your soul” on a contract of rules knowing these consequences. And if they think they aren’t fit for it, they can leave, at least much easier than they can get in. As of this year a total of 11 members from all groups combined (not counting SDN48), have left the group willingly which goes to show how easily they can leave. And you can say all you want about the illusion of purity as being bullshit but look at what happened to Miley Cyrus, Brittany Spears, Lindsay Lohan, or Vanessa Hudgens. Their pure image was ruined by scandal and what are they doing now? No one can take them seriously now. Just like any other job, you screw up, you get fired or if you don’t want to do it, you can leave. Don’t get me wrong, it really does suck that they have to devote literally everything to be an idol and for the sake of their fans, but thats just the nature of the job.
