You also have to remember that at that time China was the most advanced and powerful country in East Asia, so they sort of looked down on anyone who wasn&#039;t Chinese...including the Japanese. It wasn&#039;t by accident that they chose that name. There are still many derogatory words used against the Japanese in China, but that&#039;s mostly due to they hatred they have toward the Japanese because of WWII. Also to the guy that said it was because of hot chicks and rice...china had rice before Japan did! Also, there are plenty of hot Chinese women, too...
