So far I’ve written about my Top 10 Strange Japanese Movies, Horror Films, and Dramas. I’ve been writing quarterly anime roundups for a while now, but no top 10 anime list. Until now. And I realize that many of these titles will probably be familiar to all of you, but they each hold a special place in my heart and played a big part in my love and interest in all things anime. It’s a very personal list, so I’m sure not all of you will agree with these picks. These aren’t the top 10 picks for everyone, they are the top 10 picks for me.

10. Dragon Ball Z

Everyone knows DBZ. This show was responsible for bringing so many people into the anime fold and I was no exception. I still have a collection of DBZ VHS tapes back at my parents house from when I would go to the video store and buy a new tape with my allowance.

Going back and watching DBZ today, I am sure that I would not enjoy it so much if it were my first viewing of the show. However, DBZ has such an incredible amount of nostalgic value and importance in my anime journey, so there is no way that I could not include it on this list.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GHnfX1RmZX8']

Who should watch this show: People who have never seen anime before or are below the age of 18 probably. Or you just wanna feel like a kid again.

9. Love Hina

Love Hina might not have as wide a recognition as DBZ, but I’m fairly certain a lot of people have at least heard of it. It’s a goofy harem type anime with tons of ridiculous situations. The main character finds himself living with a bunch of girls all under one roof while he studies hard to get into Tokyo University and meet the girl of his childhood dreams.

As with DBZ, I’m pretty sure that this is another one I wouldn’t enjoy quite as much if I were watching it for the first time around today. This was the first anime I bought all the DVDs for, and also purchased all the manga for as well. As my tastes have greatly matured (for the most part) since watching Love Hina, it’s kind of embarrassing, but this show is important to me.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTa5CS-ZM9I']

Who should watch this show: People who like traditionally well done harem type anime with goofy humor and ridiculous situations.

8. Sword Art Online

SAO is about people who get trapped inside a MMO and have to beat the game to escape. If they die in the game, they die in real life too. This was a really interesting premise and everything was very strong from the storytelling to the animation to the sound and music.

SAO was great. Really great. For the first half. The second half was kind of a big disappointment for me. SAO was one of the few shows these past years that I’ve actually been excited about and watched all the way through. I wasn’t expecting the transition halfway through the show but it was almost like a whole new show the second half. I didn’t like it, but I had to see it through to the end. The first half was great – the second half was not.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xA-ZdNkRBGA']

Who should watch this show: People who can stomach a disappointing second half in exchange for an awesome first half. Also those that enjoy great action and interesting characters in a really cool digital world.

7. Wolf’s Rain

This show is about four lone wolves (who can also take on human form) and their search for Paradise. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen this show and I only watched it through once, but I remember liking it a lot. I just remembered them getting into really cool situations and always being excited to start the next episode.

After I “graduated” from shows I could purchase in American stores such as DBZ and Love Hina, I hungered for what else was out there. I wanted stuff I couldn’t find in America. I started buying very poorly translated DVDs online. This was one of them. The subs seemed like they were ran through an online translator from Japanese to Chinese, and then Chinese to English. They took some work to decipher. Wolf’s Rain reminds me of those days, and I love the show for it.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xoQuu7GPxAI']

Who should watch this show: People who like wolves.

6. Berserk

Berserk is an action oriented dark fantasy noted for its extreme violence. The main character Guts is an orphaned mercenary and a total badass. The show focuses on themes of isolation, camaraderie, and the whether or not humanity is fundamentally good or evil. The show is a good balance of all things.

When I first watched this show it was after renting it from Blockbuster with my best friend from high school. This was before I decided I couldn’t stand watching dubbed anime, so we watched it with English dubs. These dubs are hilarious. They even have dub outtakes at the end of each episode. It was fantastic. Berserk as a show is actually really good though. They recently released some movies retelling the story in a more updated and streamlined way and I’m really looking forward to getting around to watching those.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4_dXmsdreM']

Who should watch this show: People who like blood and action and humor and intrigue. This show is gritty.

5. Ergo Proxy

This show is dark scifi with some psychological undertones. It takes place in a future where androids live alongside humans. Machines start to become self aware and start causing trouble and then there is also the emergence of humanoid beings known as Proxies. These Proxies are god-like and are said to hold the key to the survival of mankind.

The first time I tried to watch this show, I didn’t like it. I only watched the first episode or two I think, but when I came back to it a second time, I ended up really really enjoying the show. I think I might have been too young to appreciate it the first time I tried to watch it or maybe I was in a bad mood or something. Either way, this show was really enjoyable. I feel like I definitely need to give this series a second full viewing sometime soon.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oAXrRWLKzko']

Who should watch this show: People who like awesome female leads, scifi, and mystery.

4. Xam’d: Lost Memories

The show starts off normal enough until the main character is caught in an explosion on a bus and a strange foreign entity enters his body causing him to gain the ability to transform into a Xam’d. His old friends are now afraid of him but he gets an offer to travel on an airship with some new friends and go on lots of adventures and get into lots of battles.

This show features music from Boom Boom Satellites (one of my favorite Japanese bands), so that’s pretty awesome. The show itself is really good too and I was really surprised at how much I ended up liking it. The animation and the colors are all really pretty and impressive. I don’t feel like this show is particularly deep in meaning, it’s just a whole lot of fun.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyJJpk-uuXM']

Who should watch this show: People who like pretty colors and great action in an intriguing setting.

3. Neon Genesis Evangelion

I feel like these last three here most people will know about, but Evangelion is about kids who have to pilot Evas to defeat alien beings known as angels who are trying to end the world more or less. It’s much more complicated and layered though, with lots of character development and interaction. Many themes are addressed and I get something new from it every time I watch.

Evangelion. Man, this show was a turning point for me. This show showed me how mature anime could really get and how much it could affect me. I absolutely loved the ending of this series. My best friend hated it. I didn’t understand how he couldn’t have enjoyed it as much as I did. All the cerebral nonsense and crazy thinking happening was just too awesome for words.

Actually, the top three for this list are more or less tied for first. I really like all of them and all three are really deep and layered and crazy. It’s really hard for me to rank one over the other here.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GJ6Nmw5S7HA']

Who should watch this show: People who like having their brains exploded.

2. Death Note

This show should be familiar, but it’s about a high school kid named Light who finds the notebook of a Death God and it grants him the power to kill anyone as long as he knows their name and face. He takes full advantage of this power and starts shaping the world as he sees fit by killing off criminals. His father is a police officer investigating the murders Light is causing, so things get pretty crazy.

I love these kinds of shows. So many times Light gets himself into impossible situations and always manages to find a way out and the reveal on what he does is always brilliant. It’s so cool. This is one of the shows I make my non-anime watching friends watch and not one of them has disliked it. This show is awesome. I actually had really low expectations before watching this show and Death Note just blew me away with how good it was.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PkXw1iBgzoY']

Who should watch this show: People who enjoy amazingly intricate situations circumvented by an ingenious high school kid in the most entertaining of ways.

1. Code Geass

This show takes place in an alternate future where the main character Lelouch makes a contract with a strange being giving him the power to command anyone to do anything, though only with direct eye contact. And, this power only works once on each person. Lelouch takes on an alter ego and fights a rebellion against the Holy Britannian Army occupying the colony of Japan.

This show has some very strong parallels to Death Note. They both star a highschooler with crazy powers who hides their identity and tries to change the world. I never felt like Code Geass was ripping off Death Note though. Even though the premise is similar, it is still very much its own show. And it is fantastic for the same reasons Death Note is and more.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cZ7zQbMxm28']

Who should watch this show: People who enjoy amazingly intricate situations circumvented by an ingenious high school kid in the most entertaining of ways.

Nostalgia Overload

After writing this post and watching the trailers for each show, I am just bursting with nostalgia right now. Maybe some of the above shows were your favorites back in the day so maybe you felt some nostalgia too. Some of the openings for these shows included above are so hilariously bad (see Berserk) but they’re special in their own way.

Writing this post made me want to watch a lot of these shows over again, especially the ones I haven’t seen for a really long time. They all mean a lot to me in their own way and for different reasons. If you’re into anime, I’m sure you understand what I mean. If you aren’t into anime, give Death Note or Code Geass a try because they’re great shows to start off with.

So tell me, how many of my top 10 have you seen? What anime shows hold a special place in your heart? Which show got you interested in anime in the first place? Share your shows and thoughts in the comments!

A while ago I wrote about my Top 10 Japanese Dramas. Since then I’ve been looking for new dramas to watch and I’ve been basing that on my favorite Japanese actors and actresses. Many of my favorites have been in multiple shows that I have thoroughly enjoyed, so I wanted to share them with you. Some of them have stronger careers than others, but they’ve all done their part in enhancing my overall J-Drama experience.

Karina

Karina is a model and an actress and has also been in three of my favorite J-Dramas. She usually plays a sort of no-nonsense woman, usually with a bit of a tomboyish attitude. She’s a very strong female character and always excels at any role she plays. I’m currently watching her in the show PRICELESS where she co-stars alongside Kimura Takuya (see below).

Abe Hiroshi

Abe Hiroshi. My dude. Even when he ends up in a show or a movie that isn’t that great, I still enjoy watching just because he’s in it. He just has a way of talking and carrying himself that makes everything so interesting. He stars in my all time favorite Japanese drama (Kekkon Dekinai Otoko) as well as my all time favorite Japanese movie (Survive Style 5+). He’s a pretty awesome guy.

Best Drama He’s Been In: Kekkon Dekinai Otoko
For more information and a list of all the shows he’s been in, check him out on DramaWiki.

Aragaki Yui

Aragaki Yui is adorable. She doesn’t always find herself in the best roles in dramas, but she’s managed to make it into two of my all time favorites. She is hilarious to watch, and when she has a good character to play, she does a really great job of it. I think she does best in roles where she plays a high schooler. The stuff I’ve seen where she plays someone older just isn’t as good in my opinion.

For more information and a list of all the shows she’s been in, check her out on DramaWiki.

Yamashita Tomohisa

Yamapi here is another actor that’s in a ton of great shows. He’s been in two of my top favorites, and he’s been in at least one “classic” J-Drama that I’ve unfortunately not gotten around to watching yet. He’s always fun to watch, and he co-stars alongside Kitagawa Keiko in the excellent J-Drama Buzzer Beat.

Best Drama He’s Been In: Proposal Daisakusen
For more information and a list of all the shows he’s been in, check him out on DramaWiki.

Kitagawa Keiko

Kitagawa Keiko is really pretty. Along with Buzzer Beat, she’s also been in a great drama called Tsuki no Koibito where she co-starred alongside Kimura Takuya. She played very different roles in these two shows, but she played each equally as well. She’s also been in a decent amount of movies and just recently stared in a J-Drama alongside Gackt. The show is called Akumu-chan and I’m really looking forward to checking it out.

Nagase Tomoya

Without him, My Boss My Hero would just not have been the same. Since this was the first show I saw him in, I really have trouble seeing him play anything else, but he really is a talented actor. Apparently he sings too, but I’ve never looked up any of his stuff. Aragaki Yui was his love interest in My Boss My Hero, and they had many hilarious scenes together.

Kuninaka Ryoko

I’ve actually only seen Kuninaka Ryoko in one show. Kekkon Dekinai Otoko. But I just thought she did such a good job with it. Maybe it was just the character she was playing in it that made her so enjoyable. Or maybe it was the awkwardly cute pug that she had in the show. I dunno. If you have any other suggestions for dramas she’s been in, please let me know.

Kimura Takuya

Kimura Takuya is like a magic man. He’s been in so many good shows and so many of them are rated way higher than your run of the mill J-Drama. I consider a viewership rating of 13% and up to be pretty good – Kimura Takuya’s shows are more often than not 20% and above. Either he makes the shows so much better than they normally would be, or he just really knows what roles to choose. Either way, he’s a great actor and definitely deserves all the fame and recognition he’s gained.

Kimura Takuya is also in tons of commercials, and he’s a member of the pop group SMAP. He really does it all. He’s even a licensed hairdresser. Along with Karina, he stars in a show called PRICELESS. This is the drama I’m currently watching, and so far it doesn’t disappoint. Hopefully it stays good enough for me to see it all the way to the end.

Along with Polysics, Boom Boom Satellites are one of the very first Japanese bands that I instantly fell in love with. They provide a great mix of synths, guitars, and drums for an unforgettable music experience.

This month, I’m going to be bringing you a new favorite band of mine every week. If you’ve not already heard the band, you’re in luck, it’ll be great. And if you have already heard the band, I’m sorry. Last week I shared The Pillows with you so this week you’ll be getting something a bit more electronic. This is the last week of the “John’s Favorite Japanese Bands” mini-series, so I hope you’ve enjoyed it.

Boom Boom Satellites

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fIdWwakxkVk']

Boom Boom Satellites pretty much always sings in near unintelligible English but they’re so awesome that nobody really cares. This is one of my favorite songs from them. I really like the trippy parts of the music video too. I think it’s pretty cool.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bw40FmB3gGU']

They’re an electronic music duo consisting of guitarist/vocalist Michiyuki Kawashima and bassist/programmer Masayuki Nakano. While their music can be mostly classified as big beat or nu skool breaks with heavy jazz influences, they are famous for their heavy use of electric guitars, and the final product often has a strong (punk) rock feel to it.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jDBSlQthHkM']

Not all of their songs are as upbeat and “cool” as the handful I’ve collected here. They have a lot of purely instrumental/experimental/chill songs that are still okay, they’re just not my favorites. The kind shown here in this post are my favorite kind from the band.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9FpItx4Gsg']

Since the band’s tracks are so fantastic, they often get featured in media. Everything from movies to anime feature their stuff. One of their songs was even in The Dark Night. I’m always really happy when I hear their music in unexpected places.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKAVLYuAopw']

Apparently the band did a collaboration with Tahj Mowry and Flo Rida back in 2009. I didn’t know about this until just a few days ago. While I don’t really like this version of the song, I think it’s worth sharing because a joint effort between Boom Boom Satellites and Flo Rida is like the last thing I would ever expect.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pi2X2v4SAKo']

The band has been making music since 1990 and they’re still going strong. The above track is from their latest album released earlier this year. Yup, Boom Boom Satellites has still got it. They rock.

So tell me, what do you think of Boom Boom Satellites? Since this is the last music post from me this month, which band did you enjoy most? D’espairsRay, Perfume, The Pillows, or BBS? Let me know in the comments!

The Pillows have been around for a long time. Since 1989. That’s like, 24 years. The Pillows and their music have truly stood the test of time and they continue to be very popular to this day. Their music ranges from alternative to indie rock, and even has some power pop thrown in there for good measure. I liked The Pillows ever since I first heard them, and they haven’t let me down since.

This month, I’m going to be bringing you a new favorite band of mine every week. If you’ve not already heard the band, you’re in luck, it’ll be great. And if you have already heard the band, I’m sorry. Last week I shared Perfume with you so this week you’ll be getting something a bit more mellow.

The Pillows

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tWajprtWpf8']

As of 2012, The Pillows have released 18 original studio albums, several EPs and compilations, and over 30 singles. That’s a lot. The guys are like 50 years old now though, so it makes sense. They’ve been making music for quite some time. Outside Japan they are best known as being responsible for the FLCL soundtrack.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9EXleSHjnGc']

They have three members, and one dude who was only with the band during their first three years. He played bass for them, but since then they’ve just had two other guys playing bass who are only recognized as support members. Also I love the drummer. He’s just so chill.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TG586JxIaAU']

The band got their name when two of the guys were hanging out and an English post punk compilation record entitled Pillows & Prayers caught their eye and inspired them. From that moment on they were known as The Pillows.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1r1VlZzVlI0']

Since they’ve been around so long, there were a ton of songs for me to choose from to put on here. I managed to narrow it down to my top favorites. I usually don’t like music that’s really simple, but The Pillows does it so well that I just can’t help but be happy when listening to their stuff. They have some more emotional, sad sounding songs, but those ones I don’t enjoy as much.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=987rsgpYrs8']

The Pillows is one of those Japanese bands that I don’t really mind when they sing in English. Especially with songs like this one. You really just can’t help but sing along with the English parts. At the top of your lungs. Every time. I know I do.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uYXIYbC43Ug']

This clip is just a snippet, but it’s from their last album of 2012. This song is just proving that they’ve still got it. They still sound like the same Pillows we know and love. Awesome.

Asian Kung-Fu Generation

Asian Kung-Fu Generation – Blue Train

This week’s post was a toss up between The Pillows and Asian Kung-Fu Generation. In the end I had to give it to The Pillows just because they’ve been around for longer, but I do love the both of them. This is one of my favorite Asian Kung-Fu Generation songs. Hopefully you enjoy it.

So tell me, how do you like The Pillows? How do you think they compare to Asian Kung-Fu Generation? Worse? Better? The same? Share your thoughts in the comments!

Many of you know that I studied abroad in Kobe, Japan for 10 weeks during undergraduate. What many of you do not know is that as part of my trip I had to spend a homestay weekend with a Japanese family. Right from the get-go, the idea of staying with a bunch of strangers who didn’t speak English at all was a bit terrifying. I was afraid. Luckily, this homestay ended up being one of the highlights of my trip there. It was phenomenal.

Prior to the Homestay

Before the homestay actually started, I was pretty nervous. Not only was I nervous to spend the whole weekend with a family of strangers, I was kinda scared I’d pull a baka gaijin and really embarrass myself.

The whole rest of the trip, I was using Japanese and English about equally. I’d use Japanese mostly during the day while we were out talking to people and visiting the local university, and then at nighttime I’d speak English with my American friends back at the dorm. This weekend I’d be using Japanese non-stop.

This all seemed very intimidating to me. I wasn’t super confident in my Japanese and I was nervous that I wouldn’t be able to communicate with the family so great and wouldn’t have the opportunity to get to know them so well. Plus I hadn’t had much experience talking to people that weren’t my age or younger (outside the classroom anyway) so I was nervous I might not be polite enough.

Luckily for me, all of my fears were dispelled after the very first day with the family. They were absolutely delightful.

The Family

My homestay family consisted of two girls, one in college and one in middle school. Their parents were young and lively and they had an adorable little Italian Greyhound named Turbo. The girls’ names were Ai and Yuu. I think the father of the family was a diabolical naming mastermind. Telling my English speaking friends about my homestay with “I” and “You” brought on much hilarity and confusion.

They were a very attractive family. Even the dog was super cute. I really got along well with all of them and they were really open, friendly, and awesome. I’m sure part of this had to do with them wanting to make a good impression and show the foreigner a good time. Plus, it was only for a weekend, so I’m sure that even if they weren’t so fond of me, they would have faked it until I was out of their hair.

I got along really well with all of them and it was nowhere near the nightmare I feared it would be. I couldn’t have asked for a better family to homestay with.

Homestay Activities

We did so many things! I mean, we did a lot of things during my whole trip in Kobe, but this homestay weekend was jam packed with awesome Japanese activities. I got to ride a train up a mountain and then ride a boat back down it, eat at a fancy sushi restaurant where I ate a whole fish and almost choked to death on some squid, play in the park with Turbo, and a lot of other awesome things that I’ll never forget.

Doing all of these things with my American friends would have been fun, but sharing them with the Japanese family that took me in for the weekend was special in a different way. It felt like the most Japanese thing I did over there. I really felt welcomed by them and all the stuff we did together really helped us bond. Even just doing stuff at their house was special.

One of my mistakes (baka gaijin move right here) was failing to make use of the bath in their house (I did remember to bring a gift though). Their home was really nice and offered a cool mix of modernism with traditional Japan. Unfortunately for me, the silly American, I declined to use the bath the whole time I was there and just used the shower instead. They weren’t surprised, as I was an American, but I still wish I would have taken that opportunity.

Another awesome thing that happened the very first day was what the father gave me during the first dinner. Apparently he went to the grocery earlier that day and bought a single can of Budweiser for me to have with dinner. It was hilarious, and kind of silly, but I really appreciated the gesture and it let me know that this homestay was going to be a great one.

How a Homestay Helps Your Japanese

“Dude, we’re so immersed right now.”

If you’re looking for the best way to immerse yourself, homestay is a great option to consider. You’re going to be around and have to interact with Japanese people all day whether you like it or not. Even if you live in Japan, if you live by yourself, you can escape the Japanese environment and look up stuff on YouTube or whatever and gobble up some English. Ain’t nobody got time fo dat if they’re living with a Japanese family.

At homestay, you’ll be taking in and spitting out more Japanese than you’d ever thought you would. You’re not going to have anybody else there to translate or help you out when you get confused of have trouble expressing an idea. It’s super great for learning practice and I know my Japanese ability and confidence really skyrocketed after my homestay. And my homestay was only a weekend. I can’t imagine what it would have been like if my stay were longer.

However, after that one short weekend, I was pretty mentally worn out from the constant barrage of Japanese, but then again I just wasn’t used to that much exposure without some sort of break. When I came back to the dorms after the weekend and was reunited with all my American friends, it was legitimately weird speaking English again.

Homestay is a great way to throw yourself into the Japanese environment. You’ll get to do a lot of cool things, meet some awesome people, and have friends for life. I know that I’ll always have a place to stay in Japan thanks to this homestay. And even though our correspondence has been sparse this past year, I know that I’ll never forget the family or the experience. It was amazing.

I’m sure many of you saw this coming. If you’ve kept up with my previous posts, you already know that I absolutely adore Perfume and will occasionally include one of their music videos at the end of a post just for fun. Perfume is the only all girl Japanese band that I’ve gotten into and have loved since the moment I first heard them. Perfume songs are catchy, uplifting, and awesome. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do.

This month, I’m going to be bringing you a new favorite band of mine every week. If you’ve not already heard the band, you’re in luck, it’ll be great. And if you have already heard the band, I’m sorry. Last week I shared D’espairsRay with you so this week you’re getting something completely different.

Perfume

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IjbrniiMp4']

I admit it. This song used to be my ringtone. It’s just really not possible for me to listen to a Perfume song and not be happy. Back in the day, Nocchi (the one with the short hair) used to be my favorite. These days I’m leaning more towards Kashiyuka (the one in the boots). I’m not too sure why, but I think it might have something to do with Nocchi’s recent hairstyle choices. Oh well.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nAIAL601jI8']

I’d say I’m more a fan of Perfume’s mid to late career. Their earlier stuff is kind of hit or miss for me. The main reason for this is clear. Since 2003, Perfume has been produced by Yasutaka Nakata, founder of the group Capsule and the Contemode label.

Capsule is awesome, and the influence is definitely apparent. It was around this time in 2003 that the group’s original post-Shibuya-kei sound began making a transition to electronic dance-pop music, incorporating Auto-Tune, vocoders, and electro house. My kinda stuff.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9gT1vIgJ2DI']

Perfume is also super popular. I mean, probably not as popular as AKB48, but still pretty darn famous. They’re in everything from commercials to international concerts these days. Perfume is definitely a successful group of girls. So far they’ve released 21 singles, 3 studio albums, and 3 compilation albums. All three studio albums went platinum or double platinum.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5CKLgGcrddQ']

As Perfume’s sound grows and matures I feel like it speaks even more and more to my interests. I’ve always really liked electronic style music and Perfume continues to deliver. I never get bored of their releases and every new track puts a smile on my face. Most of their music videos aren’t even that complicated, but they’re always entertaining.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vOIdZILbCB0']

I absolutely love it when bass guitar is featured in an electro song. This one here is no exception. The band chose the name Perfume because all three original members had the Japanese character for fragrance (香) in their names. Unfortunately, before the group could even debut, the third member dropped out to pursue her education instead. She was then replaced by Nocchi.

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWuCmjpvXmE']

This track is Perfume’s latest single. I really like it a lot. Not only do I really like the song but the video is really great too. It’s incredibly simple, but very entrancing at the same time. I love the hand dancing. And this is what I mean about Nocchi’s new hair. I’m really not a big fan of how she has it here.

Anyway, Perfume is great. Unlike D’espairsRay, they’re still around and still going strong. I’m always looking forward to their new releases and I hope they stay active for many years to come. As far as electro J-pop with female vocals, Perfume just can’t be beat.

This is Hilarious, Share it With Everyone

[yframe url='http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Bgr76R0eeg']

Also I managed to stumble across this little gem here and it is just way too hilarious to not share with all of you. Just check out those dance moves!

So tell me, do you love Perfume as much as I do? What’s your favorite song and who’s your favorite member? Or maybe you’re one of the people that hate them? Why? Why would you dislike such an adorable group of girls??
