Japanese Conjugation Cheat Sheet

The conjugation of verbs, adjectives, and nouns can get a little overwhelming, especially when you consider the different politeness levels. This cheat sheet contains basic conjugation for verbs, adjectives, and nouns (in present, past, negative, and past negative tenses) all on one sheet. On top of that, both casual and neutral/polite forms are included as well. Not every single conjugation is covered (that would need a bajillion more pages), but everything important is.

Pros

  • Has all the basic stuff most beginners will need.
  • Quick reference for learners who aren’t 100% confident with their conjugations
  • Simple layout, easy to use, and not too inky to print and take with you.
  • Free — definitely share!

Cons

  • Doesn’t have everything on there. Keeps it simple, but also doesn’t cover everything that intermediate students probably want / need.
  • Could actually hinder learning if used inappropriately. Be sure you don’t reference it all the time and use it as a crutch, instead, use it when you really need to, and learn from your mistakes!
  • Information on the sheet isn’t terribly thorough, and you’ll need to make sure you’ve learned all these things first before using it (it’s a cheatsheet, not a lesson). Will be much more useful for people who’ve already learned these concepts!

Final Word?

Great cheatsheet for beginners — they’ll find it really helpful. Plus, since it’s all on one page it’s easy to tote around and use with your studies, no matter where you are or what you’re using. Definitely give this (free) resource a download and try it out.
