Thank you for your interest in advertising on tofugu.com. Please read the advertising “rules” found below. In order to keep this site looking nice, we will not accept any ads that do not follow our regulations. If you’d like, we can design the advertisement for you.

Rules and Regulations

  1. Keep it simple and keep it elegant. The advertisement needs to fit in with the website. We don’t want our advertisements to turn our own visitors away. If you can’t make something that fits, we can design something for you.
  2. No nudity, swear words, or devil worshiping. In all seriousness, though, keep it clean. We have a large range of visitors and we don’t want to scare half of them off.
  3. We have the right to deny any advertisement we choose, so don’t get all in a tussle if we don’t say yes. If you follow all the rules, though, you should be okay.
  4. Prices are subject to change. Advertisers will be given a one month warning.
  5. Contracts last no longer than two months, but can be renewed. This is for price changes, in order to keep things fair for everyone.

Pricing and Sizes

300×250px “Big Box” Google Replacement Ad

  1. Your advertisement should be 300 x 250 px.
  2. Anything bigger than that is subject to “special” pricing rules. Please contact us.
  3. Moving gifs are not acceptable. Non-moving advertisements, please
  4. This box is $50 a week.
  5. We can also do a Product Review + Advertisement combination. You can have us do a product review (see below), and if you want, you can have the 300×250pixel advertisement go to our product review, which will go to your site / product. If we like what we review, that could be a very powerful advertisement for you. Just imagine an advertisement that says “Tofugu recommends ______” (though, that’s only if we actually recommend your product)
  6. If you would like your ad to appear somewhere else, please contact us.

  1. Your advertisement should be 125 x 125 px.

In-Post advertising

  1. Want to appear in our next post? We will put your add at the bottom of our next post for a set fee. For $10 you will be added to our next post, where you can expect hundreds if not thousands of visitors to see it. Ads should be 400 x 50 px (small variations will be tolerated) and should follow the rules that are stated above.
  2. We will not put your ad in a “site news” post. Only quality posts (at least in our minds) will qualify for “in-post advertising,” so you can always be sure of quality.

Sponsored Review

  1. Would you like your product / website / “something” reviewed by tofugu.com? If you have a Japan-related “something” we will review it for you. We cannot promise a positive review, but we can promise you a truthful one. We can’t be bias, but if you have a really good product that you’d like us to review, it can potentially mean lots of great traffic for you since we will highly recommend you!
  2. A Sponsored Review costs $50 (which is much less than it costs on sponsoredreviews.com!).
  3. Contact us for more information. Please tell us / show us what you’d like us to review so we can “review it” (haha!) before hand.

You can Expect

  1. Increased traffic. As our own traffic increases, you can expect more traffic as well. We’re growing all the time! If you have a site similar to this one (something about Japan), you can expect more click-throughs. If you’re lucky, we’ll like you too, and help you out by talking things up a little bit. If we like a site, we’ll be sure to support it!
  2. All the help you need. We are, of course, always ready and able to help with any problems you might have. Just send us an email and we’ll respond pretty darn quickly.

You might as well try it out! All you need to do is send us an email with your advertisement (or a request for us to help you make one). For a limited time, we’ll help you make your advertisement (only if you want) for no fee. Promote your good content and advertise with us!
