I am reading up on old articles, so I just saw this now:
"Stomach breathing on the other hand uses your whole lung, thus giving your body more nutrients."
Made me cringe, really. The lung delivers Oxygen to the blood and takes away Carbon Dioxide. Oxygen is not a nutrient. There are other minor inaccuracies. I know this is splitting hairs for poeple who don't really care about natural sciences and read the articles out of other interests, but if part of the article is dedicated to assessing wether this method is in any aspect "valid" or even scientifically provable, then attention should be paid to the underlying biological principles and to the correct terminology.

About the boiling water and melanin response analogy from Tim Ferris:
If people say by doing more than MED, you can reach the goal faster; they are right. You can do just enough exercise to trigger a metabolic and hormonal response to burn fat and build muscle and leave it at that. Or you can work out excessively everyday (what "excessively" means depends on each person of course). The latter will definitely burn more fat faster (it will also strain your body if you really overdo it, I know, but you get my point). MED is a good thing if TIME is limited. Reaching your goals while still having ample time at your hands for other stuff you enjoy is the main premise of Mr. Ferris' book after all. Finding the MED let's you do things with the highest efficiency IN THE SHORTEST TIME possible. I think that is a very vital point to the whole concept.

Man, that was pretty great! I actually really enjoyed that! But I'm a really stubborn eater, but found a book we just reviewed at scambreakers.com, and wanted to put it out there for different opinions and perspectives to see!

Intriguing. It makes me think of Sanchin Kata in my Karate style (Goju Ryu) It uses really deep breathing combined with tensing all of your muscles in your body.

My Karate teacher said that when he first went to study in Japan he was made to learn that Kata and ONLY that Kata for 6 months before anything else. It is both the easiest and the hardest Kata to do. Easy to do, hard to master.

Also I'm one of those annoying people who can eat as much junk food as I want and not gain weight. I also have always used diaphragm breathing, since I was a kid and I trained myself to do it without realising what I was doing (I thought it was cool to breath with the stomach instead of the lungs..... Always trying to be different)

Also ... Banana diet fad ... wonder how that national spike in potassium poisoning went!?!?

"If you don’t do these kinds of things every day, or if you stop after a week or two, of course you’re not going to see results. MED really relies heavily on consistency (kind of like Japanese learning!)"
I see what you did there, Koichiさん! (and you're right!) :y
Also, good article! Expectedly funny, & surprisingly informative. :y
