Probably not. You’d get a bigger reaction if your last name was Kentucky. I’m going to guess that this is how they would pronounce Jay: Jay.

I sometimes wonder, when I make it to Japan if there will be any reaction to my last name, Sanders. At least I won’t have to repeat it too many times, I’ll just carry a bucket of chicken around and point. No clue how they’d pronounce Jay though.
