Beautiful Japanese Art Deco Magazine Covers

A couple of week ago, I sent out a newsletter that featured art deco prints from Japan in the early 20th century.

I was blown away by these beautiful prints, how they so distinctly represented the art from that era.

How lucky then, that I stumbled upon another cache of early 20th century art just a little while later. This time, the prints come from magazine Japanese magazine covers from the 20s and 30s.

Some of these covers showcase styles from the times, but a lot of them are a lot more abstract, looking more like the faces of playing cards or a painting than anything from the real world.

You can see the rest of these covers over at 50 Watts.

These are fantastic! Some of the fonts are really creative. Modern typography maniacs should take notes. I especially like the green title on a couple of the covers. Unfortunately, I have no idea what the characters mean.
