I clicked “sign up,” entered my college .edu email address, Mixi sent me an email confirmation, I clicked the confirmation, entered my date of birth, gender, region, etc, and my profile was complete. There is no cellphone email address or anything. I live in california in the U.S. if anyone is interested.

I don’t live in Japan anymore so I thought I was out of luck, but after finding this article I tried registering with my OLD San Francisco State University email address, and I didn’t end up needing a Japanese phone! It worked!
