Finally, a “real” DragonBall Move Trailer. Let the HeartBreak Begin

Apparently I just can’t let this die. First, they defile us with the pre-trailer. Then, they show us Goku’s Monster Form. Now they change the name to “DragonBall Evolution” (I suppose the “evolution” part gives them some leeway, or something?). Well, you can just watch it. At least the P-man is green now. Still, if you’ve watched the original DragonBall, you’ll notice how little sense it makes. If you haven’t, then you’ll only notice how terrible the movie looks. I mean, seriously. At least the Super Mario Bros trailer had some funk.

Really, though, the best part about this DragonBall trailer is the Youtube comments underneath it. I’m realllly surprised at how many people are still trying to support this thing. Maybe it’s just my taste in movies? Is it really wrong for me to use the Coen Brothers as my standard for film quality?

    I don't understand,when is it supposed to be based?Picollo is still evil,but Goku is a teenager?Also since when did some fun men create the dragon balls?I thought it was like…Wait,did they ever explain who created the dragon balls?Well I don't think it was humans!
    Super Mario Bros…I always wondered why Luigi didn't have a mustache…I liked that movie,even though their interpretation of goombas and koopas was horrible.
    I like these posts,they give me a chance to rant a little about it too.

    holy crap…that makes me soo sad. granted, i never watched dragonball z (though i think i might have to now just so i can bash this movie even more) but i hate what hollywood has done to anime just to make a buck :(

    and no, using the coen brothers as a standard for movies is not terrible. their movies are freaking awesome and should be the standard for all movies. there arent a lot of movies that are at their quality of filmmaking, least of all this “new” version of dragonball or any movie they are going to make out of anime.

    honestly, if they really want to make money off anime and live action movies, just buy the rights to sell it here and do dubs with celebrities just like disney did with miyazaki movies, you let the american people keep their beloved anime, while injecting american stars and making money off it.

    I agree, they've named it EVOLUTION to give themselves freedom to create the biggest ____ in the ___ing universe.
    If you're going to rip up the entire script and make the whole thing up, just DON'T call it Dragon Ball.

    Okay, I never comment, but I just had to for this one! Firstly, may I ask how Dragonball Z became a teenage coming-of-age story? Does it make any sense? No.

    And, is it just me, or did the line, “We have to find the Dragonballs before the eclipse!” give anyone Avatar: The Last Airbender flashbacks? In that one they have to defeat the Fire Nation before Sozin's comet returns, and there just happens to be a solar eclipse.

    Also, thanks for the Mario commercial! That movie made me cringe.

    I love the Mario Brothers movie! Lol. But, the trailer was messed up. I do not understand what happened to Piccolo. I do not recall him looking like a deformed man-lizard.

    Second, I was wondering why the trailer made no sense! I thought I was a bit behind on the DBZ knowledge… It has been a good number of years since I last watched it. But… I do not care about it.

    I can avoid this movie and not feel bad. It is the Akira remake that is breaking my heart. I haven't heard it has been dropped so i am assuming it is still on. That… will kill my soul.

    They should have just let China or Korea make the movie if Japan wasn't willing to do it. I don't understand how Jump Comics would sell Hollywood the rights to make this thing. It's ridiculous! I mean, could you imagine something silly like Keanu Reeves playing a samurai in a Hollywood take on 47 Roni—DAMN IT!

    Its based in the sieres BEFORE DBZ in which goku was younger, dunno if you've ever seen it
    In the movie he is fight Evil Demon king Piccillo (aka. Piccillo's father)
    however…… thats it

    I'm not sayings its gonna be a bad MOVIE (like every is saying) it looks entertaining BUT
    its gonna be a horrible DRGONBALL MOVIE

    You may not have heard of it (although you cant be much of a fan if you havnt) but its the sieres before DBZ

    Don't we all KNOW that? There is NO difference between Dragonball and DBZ. In fact, the whole comic series is called Dragonball. The Z was only added to the title on the TV series when the Saiyan thing started.
    Yes, Goku fights Demon King Piccolo… that's the ONLY thing they got right in the movie…

    There should be a dragonball movie but a good movie and not this crap…
    I don't like the way the Kamehameha wave is going to be… it's like fire or something like that. In DBZ the Kamehameha was like a beam of energy or light. It was more real than this one.

    They should have picked someone younger. In the original series, goku was a little boy (not a teen) and, in the trailer, I haven't seen any tail in he's butt.

    Holy crap! A masterpiece from Toriyama should not be made like this. Although making a movie worth watching would be extremely difficult since every person has a different image of DB in mind, this is a shame to the fans. Koichi-san, this is the first time that I visit your website and I want to tell you that I am really pleased about the variety of information provided here… your top 10 list of japanese resources is really making difference on my learning of the language. I am a brazilian student, in my city there are not any schools of japanese, so these tools really persuaded me to continue. Keep up the good work!

    That Dragonball Z movie looks horrible…BUT I STILL HAVE TO SEE IT!! It's part of my childhood, I just hope it doesn't burn my eyes too much. That Mario movie looks pretty awesome actually, at least it looks humorous/realistic.

    I agree completely!! I love watching bad movies (perhaps it's a personality defect on my part) and picking out the horrible makeup or the continuity or the script rife with stilted dialogue and poor acting.

    And since I'm a huge fan of the dragonball story (from the first series to dragonball gt) I get to pick out everything Fox screwed up in a failed attempt to get the movie to appeal to someone who's never heard of Dragonball or thinks of anime as “That asian cartoon crap”

    The first thing that flew through my mind as soon as I saw this was a trailer to the next Mortal Kombat sequel, and even THAT was a better movie by comparison.

    Hollywood should just not….touch another popular anime ever again. They can't even remake European movies into decent American adaptations (ask me about Abre Los Ojos sometime), let alone yet Japanese ones. >.>

    Kingdom Hearts 3, whenever it does come out, I think will be good, even though I would like to play as Sora again, but if they do take out the Disney worlds I think the game is going to hear crickets. Because that would disney acting auditions mean no Disney character's as well, also you take out the Disney worlds and you're taking out what Kingdom Hearts really is.
