Godzilla Desktops for Your Computer

Ack, it’s been a while since last post. I’m working on a really good article (I think), but in the meantime, I thought I’d show you a sample of something you might see in our “free store,” which will come out along side our “normal store” hopefully in the next couple of weeks. We’ll see though, I might go on vacation first and wait to start it afterwards (otherwise, who will send stuff out?)

First things I’m going to share is four Godzilla desktop wallpapers I designed for your computers. I don’t have every resolution size down there, but hopefully I will increase the available sizes when it comes out officially. Still, most standard resolutions should be supported, I think.

Godzilla Versus King Kong Desktop

There you have it. I’m even using one of these desktops in a recent video reviewing the website Lang-8. They actually rotate every 15 minutes, so I always have something fresh going on in the background.

  • Wouldn't it make sense just to offer the maximum 4:3 and 16:10 resolutions of the wallpaper instead of offering multiple sizes? I mean 1600x1200 and 1024x768 are 4:3 aspect ratio. Someone using 1024x768 can just resize the 1600x1200... Just seems more economical to me to offer only two options for each aspect ratio (one 1920x1440 and one 1920x1200).

    What I'm getting at is you offer a good sized 4:3 ratio wallpaper (1600x1200), but offer a small 16:10 ratio wallpaper (1280x800). What about people using 1680x1050 or 1920x1200 :( (Haha yes, I use these resolutions).

  • Thanks for the info on screen res. I'll definitely do that when these are "officially" released. And damn man, those are big resolutions you use.

    Actually, 1680x1050 isn't that big... It's common among 20" widescreens. You had a 20" iMac, so you should know what it felt like using it.

  • I'm usually running the 1600x1200 res on my desktop, I need the desktop space. My friends get pissed when they use my computer because everything is 'so' small for them. IDK, I see everything just fine, haha. I also wish my Macbook had a bigger res than 1280x800.

    I will not complain or whine about all of this resolution nonsense! (mostly because I know so little that I have to guess when downloading backgrounds...>.>)

    Woot! Gigan is amaaaazing! Although I'm not sure what three of him are doing on Godzilla's breath... XD

  • Normally, when offered multiple resolution options, I just find the smallest resolution wallpaper that fills my screen completely (it's almost never exact) and resize + crop it myself in PS.
  • Unfortunately my Gateway 22' Only goes up to 1680x1050 (My old CRT used to go into the 1900s and 2000s) Man I miss those days...

    Back from Japan! Cannot sleep in airplanes at all...
    I've been staying awake all day so I can sleep at a normal time... kinda.
    I left Japan at 3:30pm on Wednesday and got to my house at 3:30pm on Wednesday.
    I'm like Hiro Nakamura from Heroes. :D
    Japan is awesome. I want to go back. :P

  • Welcome back. How was the flight back? I remember the flight to Japan wasn't that bad, but the flight back took a lot out of me.

    Flight to Japan was not so bad! Continental is nice. They had these touch screens on every seat that let you choose movies, tv shows, and listen to music. I watched Kill Bill, Scrubs, and listen to a bunch of random songs. They also had some games. They had to change our seat order to due to something got wrong, so I ended up sitting alone surrounded by Japanese people.
    The flight to Japan... didn't have those fancy screen things anymore. You couldn't choose to see a movie, since it was like TV channels and radio stations and had to wait for them to restart. I wanted to watch some of the Japane movies that seemed pretty cool. For some reason, this movie called "I just didn't do it" caught my eye and then some other ones. I just listened to my PSP and played some solitaire. I can't sleep on planes. I ended up staying up 31 hours.

  • Is this vector (illustrator)? I did a project in my computer multimedia class similar to this kind of art. I did a giant portrait of Leonard Nimoy. It took me a good 30+ hours filling in with the pen tool. I also think the have a program for doing it now...

    I agree with the whole res size ratio thing, but at the same time... I run 1280 x 1024, so apparently my res is an oddball.

    Oh nice, but I'm still I'm debating between having Gojira versus Gigan plastered across my screen, or my current Tally Hall desktop. It's a tough decision. I'm very picky about what goes on in my desktop...

    I dunno why, I've been using it on PC's since I was 10. xD
    Just comfortable, I guess. I usually end up centering the wallpaper on a black backround anyhow. I don't like ones that don't fit, and I'm too lazy to fix it.

    Godzilla is the best! I always wanted a Godzilla desktop but all the pictures I found either had a low resolution or they were taken from movies. I wanted a cartoon like desktop image. Thanks for sharing your work with us!
